BWW Review: THE FOREIGNER at Rollins College is Witty, Brilliant and Timely
by Libby Champion - Sep 30, 2016

Have you ever gone through life feeling like a fly on the wall? Ever heard something you wish you hadn't and ended up saving the day because of it? In Rollins College's THE FOREIGNER, Englishman Charlie does just that. (more...)

BWW Review: The Engeman's 1776
by Melissa Giordano - Sep 28, 2016

In seeing the Tony winning Sherman Edwards/Peter Stone musical 1776, we get an interesting account of the events leading up to the signing of the Declaration Of Independence. It is actually uncanny - and kind of funny - how this story still resonates today; petty arguing amongst congress and how divided 'leaders' can be are emphasized in this production. Obviously we've come far since then but, at the same time, it seems not far at all. (more...)

BWW Review: AN INSPECTOR CALLS at The Hampton Theatre Company
by Melissa Giordano - Oct 28, 2015

The old English play An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley has had an interesting, long journey. It was first performed in 1945 and then in the UK in 1946 with an opening on Broadway in 1947 that was, strangely, dubbed as "stale". Over time, interestingly, it has become very successful even winning a couple of Tony awards for its 1994 Broadway revival. You will see why as The Hampton Theatre Company (HTC) has mounted a brilliant production of this riveting story. (more...)

BWW Review: ON THE TOWN at The Gateway

The classic musical On The Town is probably the perfect theatrical offering - thanks to Bellport's Gateway Playhouse- during the 4th Of July festivities. We follow the sailors as they quickly meet three women who show them around New York City on their day off. (more...)

Having seen a previous less-than-stellar local production of Yasmina Reza's Tony winning play God Of Carnage, I'm thrilled that Long Island's John W. This intelligent and well-executed incarnation runs through March 6th at the gorgeous Northport venue. (more...)

BWW Review: SUMMER RAIN is Simply Charming Home-Grown Musical at New Theatre
by Brodie Paparella - Dec 5, 2016

It is a wonderful time of year to be reminded of the romanticism inherent in the Australian outback; a topic more frequently explored of late for links to our history, our current social climate and our connection as a nation. Summer Rain is the work of two Australian theatrical legends, Nick Enright and Terence Clark. Summer Rain is no Boy from Oz, but this production is undeniably charming, a quintessential musical, and a wonderful ode to Australia's natural treasures. Debuting as director, Trent Kidd has shown great skill with stagecraft and character development, alongside his clear choreography talents which truly thrive in Summer Rain. (more...)
