BWW Interviews: Chad Shelton Talks Houston Grand Opera's A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC

Houston Grand Opera's highly anticipated production of Stephen Sondheim's A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC opens this week in the Cullen Theater at the Wortham Theater Center. In addition to Stephen Sondheim's celebrated and lush score, this production proudly features sets, costumes, and original direction by popular American fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi. I recently spoke with HGO alumna Chad Shelton, who is playing Fredrik Egerman, about the production and his career.

La Jolla Playhouse Receives Grants in Support of Ayad Akhtar's THE WHO & THE WHAT

La Jolla Playhouse is the recipient of three prestigious and highly-competitive grants to support its world-premiere production of The Who & The What, by 2013 Pulitzer Prize winner Ayad Akhtar, directed by Kimberly Senior, running February 11 - March 9 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre. The grants include the Edgerton Foundation New American Plays Award, as well awards from The Laurents/Hatcher Foundation and The Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation Theatre Visions Fund.

CLO Ambassadors to Hold 17th Annual Wine Tasting & Silent Auction, 3/7

The Pittsburgh CLO Ambassadors hosted a Wine Tasting and Silent Auction preview party for sponsors and members of the press on February 24, at Nine on Nine in Pittsburgh. The preview party was held to raise awareness for the Ambassadors' 17th Annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction, which will take place Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Duquesne Club, and will feature wines from Capital Wine & Spirits.

Lark Hotels will grand open its second Nantucket property in July 2014 with the addition of 21 Broad, a totally renovated 27-room boutique hotel ideally located just a minute's walk from the Steamship Authority and iconic island restaurants. Featuring luxuries such as a steam and massage room, a breakfast juice bar serving gluten free artisan pastries, and unique vitamin C showers, which de-chlorinate the water, 21 Broad will be Lark Hotels' seventh coastal New England boutique hotel and its second collaboration with Boston-based real estate developer, Bruce A. Percelay. It is the sister property to the chic 76 Main, also owned by Percelay, which opened last summer and is the only hotel on tony Main Street in the heart of Nantucket town.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director Jeremy Blocker have announced that What's It All About? Bacharach Reimagined will extend two additional weeks through Sunday, February 16, 2014 at NYTW, 79 East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue. The musical had originally been scheduled to run through January 5 and then, following rave reviews and strong box office, received a four-week extension through February 2.
