Elios Charitable Foundation to Host 10th Anniversary Hellenic Charity Ball, 11/14

SAN FRANCISCO (September 8, 2015) - The Elios Charitable Foundation announced today the program and honorees for the 10th Anniversary Hellenic Charity Ball, to be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Westin St. Francis on Union Square (335 Powell Street, San Francisco). One of San Francisco's most star-studded events, the biennial gala pays tribute to distinguished arts and entertainment luminaries in the Greek-American community and is the principal source of funding for the Elios Charitable Foundation. This year's honorees include cinematographer and director Constantine Makris ("Law & Order," "Orange is the New Black"); actor and dancer Gilles Marini ("Sex and the City: The Movie," "Brothers & Sisters") and comedian Demetri Martin ("The Daily Show," "Important Things with Demetri Martin"). Singer-songwriter Ariana Savalas, will be presented with the Elios Spotlight Award and 2009 Hellenic Charity Ball Honoree, Marilu Henner, will be the evening's emcee. This summer, Apollo's Fire embarks on its fourth international tour, performing with world-renowned violinist, Alina Ibragimova, at the BBC Proms in London (Aug. 15), The Aldeburgh Music/Snape Proms in the UK (Aug. 16), and performing a separate chamber program at the Tuscany Musical Landscapes Festival in Italy (Aug. 21). Apollo's Fire's debut at the BBC Proms will be followed by a VIP reception hosted by the U.S. Embassy Chargé d'Affaires. Additionally, Apollo's Fire presents “Greatest Hits of the 1720s” at the prestigious Tanglewood Festival in Lenox, MA on July 2.

(WASHINGTON)-Washington National Opera (WNO) celebrates its seventh season of free opera simulcasts at Nationals Park with title sponsor Mars Chocolate North America for the M&M'S® Opera in the Outfield performance of Rossini's charming romantic comedy Cinderella today, May 16, 2015. This dazzling production has been acclaimed worldwide for its witty characterizations, rainbow-bright sets and costumes, and easy-to-follow English translation, making it a perfect opera for the entire family. The 57th season of Kansas City Ballet closes with “Dances Daring (Then and Now),” with four electrifying works in one performance: Edwaard Liang's Wunderland,featuring the music of Philip Glass, is a haunting, visually striking contemporary ballet; performed in celebration of the centennial of his birth, the pas de deux from Todd Bolender's most revered ballet, The Still Point, features the music of Claude Debussy; Concertino follows, set to the music of Arcangelo Corelli, by choreographer Amy Seiwert who is gaining national renown for her surprising, remarkable work; and finishing the program George Balanchine's iconic The Four Temperaments, set to the music of Paul Hindemith, is pure energy.

The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, New York Live Arts' Resident Dance Company, today announced the launch of a new partnership with Loyola Marymount University (LMU). The partnership with the Los Angeles based university marks the first of its kind, adding to the Company's existing collegiate education programs. Spanning a total of four years, the partnership will bring the Company's works and their pedagogical and performative philosophy to LMU's campus and the Los Angeles area.

West End's AMERICAN IDIOT Taps X FACTOR's Amelia Lily to Lead Show

X Factor star, Amelia Lily (playing Whatshername), will star in Green Day's explosive, award-winning Broadway musical American Idiot, as it blasts into the UK for its West End premiere from the 17 July at The Arts Theatre, Leicester Square. Running until 27 September 2015, with press night on 22 July, American Idiot - The Musical features the music of Green Day with the lyrics of its lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, and book by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer. The musical is being directed and choreographed by Racky Plews, with sound by Chris Whybrow, design by Sara Perks and lighting by Tim Deiling. Further casting will be announced in due course.
