How We React and How We Recover, the new album from three-time Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown, will be released by Ghostlight Records this month. His first solo recording in over a decade is a politically-charged, far-reaching rumination on love, family and music. The album will be available in digital and streaming formats on Friday, June 29, with a physical CD planned for later this year. The release will coincide with New York City Center's Encores! Off-Center production of Brown's landmark New York debut show Songs for a New World, which runs from June 27-30.

The Ithaca Beer Co. announces the release of 'Brew York' Pale Ale, the first New York State brewery to commit to high volume, long-term use of New York-grown ingredients - forecasting upwards of 1,500 barrels (1 barrel equals 31 U.S. gallons) this year. Brew York will be available year-round to retailers in every market within the state in both kegs and 12-ounce bottled six-packs beginning May 16. While Ithaca Beer is not a New York State licensed farm-brewery, it developed this hop-forward pale ale with nearly 70 percent New York-grown barley and 100 percent New York hops - uniquely exceeding New York States' 2019 farm brewery license requirements. Ithaca Beer has been committed using New York State grown barley and hops for many years and the release of Brew York reflects their confidence in the quality and availability of these ingredients. "The release of Brew York has been in the making for more than a decade. In 2004, we introduced an all New York State hopped Double IPA while working on getting the Northeast Hop Alliance off the ground. We spent significant time in front of state legislators requesting support to bring back the once thriving NYS hop industry," said Ithaca Beer co-founder and president, Dan Mitchell. That Brew York is broadly available year-round throughout New York is a unique first. To date, predominant New York State ingredient brands have been geographically limited or seasonally available. Ithaca Beer has worked with several New York State barley and hop growers and suppliers to ensure that the quantity of consistent high-quality ingredients would be available to make this beer all year and in volumes required to serve all of Ithaca Beer's wholesaler markets. National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces five NNPN Rolling World Premieres (RWP): Ready Steady Yeti Go by David Jacobi, Ripe Frenzy by Jennifer Barclay, Apples in Winter by Jennifer Fawcett, The Mermaid Hour by David Valdes Greenwood, and Heartland by Gabriel Jason Dean. The magical world of artist Marc Chagall and his wife Bella will be tenderly brought to life onstage at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts (The Wallis) next month in director Emma Rice's production of Daniel Jamieson's The Flying Lovers of Vitebsk.  Partners in life and on canvas, Marc and Bella are immortalized as the picture of romance. On the painter's canvas they flew, but in real life they walked through some of the most challenging times in 20th Century history-navigating the devastation of war, the Russian Revolution and each other. Following the artistic heights of Brief Encounter and 946: The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips, Kneehigh and Rice return to The Wallis with a production that combines the visuals of Chagall's paintings with the music and dance of the Russian-Jewish tradition. My last release was Beyond The Sun -- my tribute to Sun Records with a lot of covers -- so this time around I had a lot of new material that I was thrilled to record. My manager always tells me, We need more songs.' This time, even she realized she's creating a songwriting monster, and had to beg me to stop.

The Marsh San Francisco announces award-winning performer Brian Copeland is performing his final free show for this year of his acclaimed solo piece, The Waiting Period, an unflinching examination of depression. This performance is particularly directed at those struggling with depression that would be otherwise unable to attend due to the cost of admission. Featuring humorous, poignant, and riveting insights, the solo show is written by Copeland and directed by David Ford, which will return in 2018 at The Marsh. Also performing his hit show Not a Genuine Black Man for the month, this added performance of The Waiting Period will take place 5:30pm Sunday, November 19, at The Marsh San Francisco Studio, 1062 Valencia Street.
