Celebrities and other luminaries will converge on Gotham Hall in Manhattan as award-winning actor Jeffrey Wright and acclaimed artist Carrie Mae Weems are honored by The Brotherhood/Sister Sol (Bro/Sis), a nationally recognized, Harlem-based nonprofit and youth development organization, as it heads into its 22nd year transforming young lives. Other notables attending the organization's 13th annual VOICES benefit include actors Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale and Michael K. Williams, the Honorable David N.  Dinkins, 106th mayor of New York, the Honorable Cyrus Vance, New York County district attorney, film and television producers Terence and Rachel Winter, New York Times columnist Charles Blow and DJ Beverly Bond, founder and executive director of Black Girls Rock! The event, which takes place on Thursday, May 11, at Gotham Hall in Manhattan, is expected to draw 500 supporters.

On Monday, May 1, HERE honors award-winning director Anne Kauffman and President of the Scherman Foundation, Mike Pratt, at HERE's annual gala.  This year's gala, entitled MOXIE!, begins at 6:00pm with The Sassy Supper at City Winery (155 Varick Street) featuring VIP Cocktail Reception, silent auction, dinner and performances, and continues with the Guts & Glamour Party, beginning at 8:30pm at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue), with cocktails, delectables, silent auction, performances and dancing. 

JAG Productions will present August Wilson's Fences later this month at the Woodstock Town Hall Theatre in Woodstock, Vermont.  Previews begin April 27, 2017 and performances run through May 7, 2017.

The dog days of summer arrive early this year, as Rubicon Theatre Company presents a spring production of A.R. Gurney's howlingly funny canine comedy SYLVIA, a love story about empty nesters Greg and Kate, and an irrepressible mutt named Sylvia. Written by Drama Desk, Obie and Lortel Award-winning playwright A.R. Gurney (also known for Love Letters and The Dining Room), the plot follows what happens after a man going through a midlife crisis finds a dog in Central Park and brings her home without consulting his wife.

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival announced today that Isabelle Huppert will receive their prestigious Montecito Award for her critically acclaimed role in Paul Verhoeven's Elle, a Sony Pictures Classics release. Given to a person in the entertainment industry who has made a great contribution to film, the award will be presented to her at a ceremony on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the historic Arlington Theater.

Audiences first became aware of Jaston Williams as half of the citizens of Tuna, Texas with the debut of Greater Tuna in 1982. The saga continued with A Tuna Christmas, Red, White and Tuna and Tuna Does Vegas. The plays have been performed on and off Broadway at the Kennedy Center, the Edinburgh International Arts Festival, the Spoleto Festival U.S.A. and all over America. He has received Washington DC's Helen Hayes Award nominations for A Tuna Christmas and Red, White and Tuna as well as the San Francisco Bay Area Critics Award for Greater Tuna. He also received the L.A. Dramalogue Award for both Greater Tuna and A Tuna Christmas. A Tuna Christmas was published in 'Best Plays of 1995.' For several years, Jaston toured in Larry Shue's The Foreigner, for which he received a Helen Hayes Award nomination for Best Actor. He performed in The Fantasticks at Washington DC's Ford's Theatre and directed the musical Bad Girls Upset By The Truth at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre. A recipient of the Texas Governors Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Arts by a Native Texan he performed at the White House on three occasions.
