GLEE-Cap: Funeral
by Robert Lawlor - May 17, 2011

Gleeks, we are just one episode away from Nationals, but with such joy and excitement comes the demise of many things - and tonight, we will mourn the loss of several things before the joy of Nationals overwhelms us. Mr. Schuester signs up Jesse to consult him on how to prepare the New Directions, which has Finn on edge, and only gets worse as Jesse calls Finn out on his less than stellar talents. Sue, Terri, and Howard hack into Principal Figgin's email account to mess with the New Directions travel plans to New York, before Terri calls Sue on her more ruthless than usual exterior. Becky and her mother come to Will to inquire about Becky joining Glee Club after Sue kicks her off the Cheerios, but sadly Will is unable to fulfill the request so close to Nationals. Will confronts Sue on why she kicked Becky off the Cheerios, only to find out that Jean, Sue's sister has passed away, and Becky is a reminder of the sister Sue lost. Jesse and Will put up a sign up sheet to audition for soloist for Nationals, but Finn refuses to sign up due to Jesse's harsh criticisms.

STC's search for Rhoda Penmark gets a contemporary twist
by Jeffrey Ellis - Mar 12, 2011

First created by writer William March in his 1954 book The Bad Seed, then recreated by playwright Maxwell Anderson for his hugely successful Broadway play of the same name (which was filmed for the screen by Mervyn LeRoy, starring the Broadway duo of Patty McCormick and Nancy Kelly as Rhoda and her mother), the character of Rhoda Penmark has inspired (Tina Denmark in the musical Ruthless is clearly a doppelganger for Rhoda) and sent chills up the spines of audiences for more than 50 years - and now Nashville's Street Theatre Company plans a revival - with a contemporary twist - of the melodrama for presentation in June.

STAGE TUBE: First Look at A.R.T.'s PROMETHEUS BOUND
by Nicole Rosky - Mar 3, 2011

An outcry against tyranny, Prometheus Bound illustrates one man's struggle against the brute force of a ruthless dictator. Written by Tony and Grammy Award-winning playwright and lyricist Steven Sater (Spring Awakening) with music composed by Grammy Award-winning System of a Down lead singer Serj Tankian, this new musical is inspired by Aeschylus's Ancient Greek tragedy about the heroic struggle of Western civilization's first prisoner of conscience. A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus stages this world premiere production in OBERON, immersing the audience in an environment that has the Dionysian energy and rebelliousness of a rock concert.

Rogue Machine Presents YARD SALE SIGNS, 9/25
by BWW News Desk - Sep 25, 2010

A comedy about mothers, daughters, and other things that imply some sort of responsibility. A shopping trip where characters find themselves examining much more than their fashion choices. With an absurdist edge, this sometimes ruthless journey throws light on the stuff that we all accumulate as we move through life...and the rather circuitous paths we follow to convince ourselves we're rid of it.
