The Oklahoma Theatre Guild, in cooperation with The Cimarron Alliance, with license from the American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER) and Broadway Impact, has announced a one-night-only reading of "8," a play chronicling the historic trial in the federal constitutional challenge to California's Proposition 8, written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter and AFER Founding Board Member Dustin Lance Black.

Entering the Fries Auditorium of the Grosse Pointe War Memorial, theatre patrons are greeted by an orchestra wearing cowboy hats, a stage full of cornstalks, and a sign with the letters made out of rope announcing where they are - Oklahoma! The Grosse Pointe Theatre starts their 65th season with the classic show and the company did the Rogers and Hammerstein musical justice.

Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre opens its Eleventh Season with David Mamet's NOVEMBER, a fiendishly funny, over-the-top new comedy fresh from its smash-hit success on Broadway.

Composer/lyricist Neil Bartram and book writer Brian Hill, Drama Desk Nominated authors of Broadway's The Story of My Life, will workshop their newest musical Something Wicked This Way Comes, adapted from the novel by Ray Bradbury, with the Weitzenhoffer School of Musical Theatre at the University of Oklahoma in October 2012.

Accompanied by the 30-piece UC Berkeley Summer Symphony, the young performers, ranging in age from 9 to 19 will make this one of the can't-miss events of the summer. The show is at 7:30 p.m. at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, 50 Oak St., San Francisco.

The King Center for the Performing Arts of Brevard Community College and The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse present the first annual Summer Musical Theatre Project. Through special arrangements with R & H Theatricals, N.Y, N.Y. and under the direction of Anastacia Hawkins-Smith, the students in this project will be participating in 3 performances of Rodgers & Hammerstein's OKLAHOMA! on the King Center Stage today, July 13 and July 14 & 15.

Washington state teens are working on an all-state all-student production of this Golden Age staple as part of a brand new education program called The Oklahoma! Project.

Well, you could pair up with a local dance theater to punch up those outrageous dance sequences to give the audience something new. That's exactly what the 5th Avenue Theatre did when they teamed up with Spectrum Dance Theater in order to try and polish up their production of "Oklahoma". The problem is that it punched up a bit too much and made it feel a bit too new. Luckily the leads of the show still knew how to tell the story and that's what made the show enjoyable.

The 5th Avenue Theatre will host panel discussions and a Town Hall meeting to engage audiences about the portrayal of race in its current production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma! Called "provocative" by the Seattle Times, this new production features an African American actor as the antagonist, sparking vigorous discussion among audiences about racism both in 1907 (when the musical is set), and in society and the arts today.

During the first run of LYRIC'S A CHRISTMAS CAROL, presented by Devon Energy last December, Lyric and its generous patrons raised over $18,000 for Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.
