Great Composers Lecture Series To Be Held At Hoff-Barthelson Music School

Hoff-Barthelson Music School's new Great Composers Lecture Series for music aficionados begins Thursday, February 15, 2018, at 7:30 pm with Leonard Bernstein at 100: Beyond West Side Story, and is followed by Ludwig van Beethoven: Madman? Genius? Both? on Friday, March 16, 2018, at 11:00 am. Both lectures will be presented by Copland House Artistic Director Michael Boriskin and take place at the School's Behrens Bergman Auditorium, 25 School Lane, Scarsdale. Admission is $25 for one lecture; $40 for both. HBMS students may attend free of charge. Space is limited; reservations are strongly encouraged.

The Philly POPS will join in a city-and-nationwide tribute to composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein to mark 100 years after his birth. Lenny's Revolution runs February 2-4, 2018 at the Kimmel Center. Bernstein, who studied at Philadelphia's Curtis Institute of Music, revolutionized music forever by blurring the lines between classical and popular, most famously with his iconic hits West Side Story, Candide, and On the Town.

Broadway's Krysta Rodriguez of the Tony Award nominated revival of Spring Awakening, joins the cast of the National Symphony Orchestra'sWest Side Story in Concert, led by Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke, February 14, 16, and 17, 2018 in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. Rodriguez replaces previously announced Ana Villafa e as Anita, who has withdrawn due to scheduling conflicts.
