Villanova Theatre presents The Threepenny Opera, with book and lyrics by Bertolt Brecht, music by Kurt Weill, directed by Valerie Joyce, and on stage April 14-26, 2015. Villanova's reimagined production will feature actors playing instruments, a striking industrial aesthetic, and a timely message.

The Broadway production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, directed by Harold Prince, recently welcomed a new leading man. The longest-running show in Broadway history, and one of the most successful stage productions of all-time, PHANTOM ushered in Broadway star James Barbour in the title role on February 9, 2015. The show stars two veterans of the Toronto theatre community, Diana Belshaw and Allegra Fulton, and features newcomer Umed Amin. After a worldwide search, Houston Grand Opera has chosen seven new members for the 2015–16 HGO Studioprogram. One of the most respected and highly competitive young artist programs in the world, the HGO Studio provides comprehensivecareer development to young singers, pianist/coaches, and conductors who have demonstrated potential to make major contributions to thefield of opera. The HGO Studio received applications from 500 artists; of those, about 275 were heard in Houston, New York, Philadelphia,Cincinnati, and San Francisco. For singers, the audition process culminates in HGO's annual Eleanor McCollum Competition Concert of Arias, held this year on February 5.

Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts ('The Wallis') announces theater icon Barbara Cook for a single performance tonight, March 10, 2015 at 8:00 pm in the Bram Goldsmith Theater. The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) is pleased to announce details for its 2015-16 Mainstage Series of opera, musical theatre, drama and dance productions.
