5th Avenue Theatre's Rising Star Project Presents All-Student Version of CAROUSEL This Weekend

By:

The 5th Avenue Theatre's Rising Star Project and The Sheri and Les Biller Family Foundation proudly present Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel, an all-student presentation on the 5th Avenue Stage. Carousel features music by Richard Rodgers, book & lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and is based on Ferenc Molnar's play Liliom, as adapted by Benjamin F. Glazer. The show runs this weekend, March 12-14, 2015.

After The 5th Avenue's professional production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel closes on Sunday, March 1st, high school students from across Washington state will perform their own production of the show on the legendary 5th Avenue mainstage.

For more than 100 teenagers, the Rising Star Project offers a unique educational experience unlike any other in the country. Students passionate about musical theater gain firsthand experience in the process of producing, marketing, stagecraft, and performing a professional musical under the direct mentorship of theater professionals ranging from administrative staff to orchestra musicians and union crew members to producers and performers. This sensational project will use the same direction, props, sets, and costumes as the professional production. Audiences will be swept away by this outstanding young cast as they present this heartbreaking and tempestuous love story.
