“After three years of uncertainty, cancellations, and shutdowns, Koerner Hall celebrates its 15th season filled with superstars from classical, jazz, pop, and global music, including debuts from over 20 artists ranging from the German pianist Igor Levit to Sona Jobarteh, the first female griot kora player from The Gambia. Two internationally acclaimed orchestras led by legendary Maestros sit comfortably alongside artists from 33 different countries. Two thirds of the concerts feature Canadians and a third of them feature artists that celebrate the great diversity of our city. Buck Creek Players will present the first show of its 50th season with this play on their mainstage. 6 live in-person performances will be held at the playhouse starting Friday, August 4th and running through Sunday, August 13th.

The Premiere Playhouse production of Grease checks off a lot of the boxes of what a great night at the theatre is all about. The band, led by Music Director Matthew Walicke provided a tight sound for this talented cast to rely on by setting a great pace and maintaining a good flow to this production. They facilitated seamless scene changes with their reprises and added a nice level of energy to the production.

Mamet’s full-length comedy penned to appeal to young audiences premiered in 1978 at the Town Hall Performing Arts Center in Flushing, Queens a borough of New York City. The plot is messy, convoluted, and at some times almost mind-warping. The story follows the adventures of Binky Rudich, his friend Vivian Mooster and an almost human-like sheep Bob as they struggle to get the two-speed clock to work. Soon, Binky’s mother known as Mrs. Rudich calls for Binky to come down for lunch, Binky decides to hit the clock with a hammer one last time hoping to make it work. Suddenly the kids have blasted nearly 50 lightyears away from anything they’ve known to the planet of Crestview.

On Saturday, May 13, 2023, I had the pleasure of seeing yet another first-rate installment of playwright Roger Bean’s Marvelous Wonderettes jukebox musical series, THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES DREAM ON, as put on by the Castle Craig Players, at the Almira F. Stephan Memorial Playhouse, in Meriden, CT. 

This show has kicked off with a bang in Bobby’s books and we can’t recommend it highly enough to everyone GREASE fan or newbie alike

Yale Repertory Theatre has announced its 2023–24 season of four plays.

Jazz at Princeton University, helmed by acclaimed saxophonist/composer Rudresh Mahanthappa, presents the annual Princeton University Jazz Festival on Saturday, April 15. The festival features Artemis, Jazz at Princeton's chair Rudresh Mahanthappa and his Bird Calls ensemble, jazz greats playing with Princeton's exceptional student groups, and the legendary Rufus Reid with the Creative Large Ensemble.

The cast is set for the world premiere of Good Bones, the next play from Pulitzer Prize-winner James Ijames.
