Levin's departure will culminate a historic run spanning more than four decades at one of Kansas City's landmark theatres, where she gained a regional and national reputation for innovating and bringing to life bold and diverse plays with powerful messages and illuminating people in an empathetic and unique way.

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the third season of The Refocus Project, its multi-year project to elevate and restore marginalized plays to the American canon. This season the new musical New York, New York is bringing the hopes and dreams of young artists to the Broadway stage in a new musical from iconic duo John Kander and Fred Ebb. Bernard Pomerance’s The Elephant Man, premiered at the Hampstead Theatre in London in November of 1977. Pomerance’s play also transferred to the National Theatre in London for an “In Rep” residency. From January to March of 1979 it played off-Broadway, and made a transfer to the Booth Theatre on Broadway later in 1979, but the production closed in 1981 after 916 regular performances. The Elephant Man received revivals in 2002 and 2014.

Two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Branden Jacobs-Jenkins has made his television debut with a series adaptation of Octavia E. Butler’s seminal 1979 sci-fi novel Kindred. BroadwayWorld caught up with Jenkins, who is known for his plays like An Octoroon, Gloria, War, Appropriate, Neighbors and Everybody, to discuss the new series.
