Producer Julian Schlossberg announces that Academy Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning writer and actress Renee Taylor - known to millions for her role as Fran Fine's food-obsessed mother, Sylvia, on 'The Nanny' - will return to the New York stage this summer in MY LIFE ON A DIET, an autobiographical comedy written by Ms. Taylor and her late husband Joseph Bologna. Originally directed by Mr. Bologna, MY LIFE ON A DIET will have its New York premiere Off-Broadway at Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46 Street, between Ninth & Tenth Aves) beginning Thursday, July 12, 2018.

McCarter Theatre Center Announces Lineup For 17th Annual Artists' Retreat

McCarter is proud to welcome a group of esteemed and emerging playwrights and theater artists to Princeton for the Sallie B. Goodman Artists' Retreat. The annual Retreat in June is a centerpiece of McCarter's LAB, a platform and creative incubator devoted to ongoing theatrical development and artist cultivation. TCM To Pay Tribute To Musicals In June Programming Special 'Mad About Musicals!'

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will pay homage to the glittering world of Hollywood musicals with Mad About Musicals!, a special month of programming celebrating timeless movie musicals such as The Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain and Cabaret. TCM is once again partnering with Ball State University and Canvas to offer a free online multimedia course tied to this programming special about the history of the musical genre and its evolution with cultural and technological shifts. Producer Stacey Mindich just announced that she will partner with Canadian producer David Mirvish to present the first international production of the Tony & Grammy Award-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen, which will play Toronto's Royal Alexandra Theatre beginning in March 2019. The original Broadway production team - including Tony, Grammy, and Academy Award winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Music & Lyrics), Tony Award-winner Steven Levenson (Book), and four-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif (Direction) - will reunite to launch this production.

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Executive Director), dedicated to the development of new musicals and the preservation of musical gems from the past, has announced the cast of the 1961 Broadway musical Subways Are for Sleeping with music by Jule Styne and book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, the final show in the Winter 2018 Musicals in Mufti Series celebrating the work of the legendary composer Jule Styne. Performances are set to begin Saturday afternoon, February 24, 2018 for 11 performances only through Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). Opening Night is Sunday evening, February 25, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.

BWW Review: GARLAND IN WORD AND SONG at Black Box Booking

The setting is April 23, 1961, when a 38-year-old Judy Garland performed at Carnegie Hall in what the New York Times called 'the concert of the century.' Her Carnegie Hall appearance marked a huge comeback for the star. The live recording Judy at Carnegie Hall received five Grammy Awards and went Gold within a year. When Judy stepped out onto the stage at Carnegie Hall that night, the raucous standing ovation that greeted her was just the start of what has been called "the greatest night in show business history." Award-winning actress/singer Jody Briskey channels Judy Garland as she recreates that special night in Garland in Word and Song.
