Does everyone love Buddy Holly? The Brits certainly do. Alan Janes' BUDDY: THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY opened on the West End in London in 1989 and ran for eight years the first time, toured the United Kingdom over 25 years, and was revived for a year on the West End in 2007, so there's been massive love for the show there for three decades. It's been here, too, as BUDDY opened on Broadway in 1990 and has kept going around America since then as well.

As previously announced, MainStage Irving*Las Colinas has recently leased the former Texas Musicians Museum (222 E. 11th Hour Theatre Company heats up the city with a three-show concert performance of City of Angels. This TONY Award winning musical will feature a cast of musical theatre stars and the 17-piece Big Band from The Summer Club. City of Angels has a book by Larry Gelbart, Music by Cy Coleman, and Lyrics by David Zippel. It is directed by 11th Hour Resident Director Megan Nicole O'Brien with Music Direction by Dan Kazemi. Larry Lees is conducting the Big Band.  The concert will be Friday, June 7(8 p.m.) and Saturday, June 8 (2 p.m. and 8 p.m.) at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre, 480 S. Broad Street. Tickets cost $19-$39. Most Midwesterners older than a certain age have heard the name and may even know how young Buddy Holly died.  Some fans know exactly where they were and from whom they heard the news.  Many fewer know much about Buddy's backstory.   That hole in the history in early Rock and Roll is plugged by the new production of "Buddy … The Buddy Holly Story" at New Theater Restaurant in Overland Park now through July 7.

From Friday, May 3 through Wednesday, May 22, BAM presents Black 90s: A Turning Point in American Cinema, a nearly three week-long program of films, both low-budget art films and classic blockbusters, from an era of explosive creativity and newfound studio support for black filmmakers.

The Legendary Soul Man Sam Moore was announced as a guest collaborator on Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member, and world-renowned Nashville-based keyboardist, Reese Wynans first-ever solo album, Sweet Release. Moore makes his guest appearance on the album's first single, 'Crossfire,' providing his signature vocals on the classic song, once sung by Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Following the record-breaking box-office success of "Million Dollar Quartet," Bucks County Playhouse will present for the third time its signature production of "Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story" beginning Friday, February 8 through Sunday, March 3. The Playhouse's Executive Producer Robyn Goodman, Producing Director Alexander Fraser and Producers Stephen Kocis and Joshua Fiedler announced final casting for the production, that will once again be directed by Hunter Foster (BCP's "Million Dollar Quartet" and "42nd Street"), and choreographed by Lorin Latarro (Broadway's "Waitress"), both of whom are also Bucks County Playhouse Artistic Associates.
