Coeurage Theatre Company, LA's Pay What You Want theatre company, has announced the second production of its 10th Anniversary season, the West Coast premiere of Sucker Punch by Roy Williams, directed by Michael A. Shepperd. There will be one preview performance of this site-specific production on Monday, June 3, at 8pm, and opening is set for Tuesday, June 4, at 8pm. Sucker Punch will play through June 23 only at the Tiger Boxing Gym in West Hollywood.

'I got started in dance when I was five. My second cousin's mom owned a dance studio and my mom and my sister had just moved to Edmonton - where I'm from - and she was looking for a way to keep us busy. I started singing and acting when I was about thirteen and it was all downhill from there.'

A-D-D-D-D-F#-A were the first notes of the show last Monday night, as the Actors Fund brought back the beloved fan favorite and critically acclaimed musical [title of show] in a reunion concert at The Broadhurst Theatre. This one-night only reunion starred original cast members Hunter Bell, Susan Blackwell, Heidi Blickenstaff and Jeff Bowen along with musical director Larry Pressgrove. Producer Kevin McCollum announced today that the new musical, Mrs. Doubtfire, will premiere at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre this fall on route to Broadway.  The musical features a book Karey Kirkpatrick and John O'Farrell and music and lyrics by Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick, the Tony Award nominated team behind Something Rotten!  Four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks (Hello, Dolly!) will direct and Lorin Latarro (Waitress) will choreograph.  Ethan Popp (Tina) will serve as Music Supervisor.

The 5th Avenue Theatre is announcing a change in its 2019/20 season lineup. The world premiere of an original new musical, Bliss, will replace the previously announced Stu for Silverton in early 2020. Producing Artistic Director Bill Berry said, "Even though we do not like to make changes after we have announced our season, we are very proud of the hundreds of thousands of audience members who come to The 5th each year and understand that this is sometimes part of the process of being one of the leading theaters in the country producing new musicals."

After a successful, sold out run at the biggest Hollywood Fringe Festival yet, the Theatre Unleashed premiere of Tattered Capes by acclaimed playwright Gregory Crafts took home the Fringe Award for "Dance and Physical Theatre" Sunday night against a tough field that also included hit shows like Cirque du Giselle, Shakedown at the Dusty Spur, Mil Grus and Scarlett Fever. The win is TU's second in a row, after taking home the award for Best Comedy last year with A Very DIE HARD Christmas.

Pear Theatre continues its season with the World Premiere of "Sojourn" by playwright Evan Kokkila-Schumacher, directed by Caroline Clark. Set in the later half of this century, "Sojourn" follows two astronauts on a life-long mission into the cosmos. "Sojourn" previews on March 14, with press and Opening Night on Friday, March 15 (followed by a champagne gala). In 2013, Gregory Crafts wrote a short (but epic) superhero script about M-Pulse, the Eminence of Electromagnetism, to be mounted as part of the Theatre Unleashed show Play/Time. A couple years later, M-Pulse's story went to the inaugural Short + Sweet 10-Minute Play Festival in Hollywood and not long after, it expanded­--along with M-Pulse's universe--as part of Serial Killers with Sacred Fools.
