On Saturday, November 10, Flushing Town Hall will celebrate the Festival of Lights with its fourth annual Diwali Festival, this time as a Diwali Dance Party, featuring DJ Rekha and Abha Roy in a mash-up of Bhangra and Kathak music and dance styles, with cooking workshops, dance lessons, traditional foods, and family-friendly activities such as a jewelry workshop and henna painting. The event will provide a rare opportunity to see DJ Rekha perform in New York City.

It will play September 5 through September 16 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse.

The Human Race Theatre Company (HRTC) is proud to introduce the lineup for its 2018-2019 Eichelberger Loft Series - a five-show collection of works that examines specific moments in history-real and imaginary, corrects ancient history and revisits a part of the company's own history. The Virginia Arts Festival joins the worldwide celebration of Leonard Bernstein at 100, honoring the life and legacy of the legendary composer and conductor.

The 100th birthday of the legendary composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein will be celebrated at the South Orange Performing Arts Center on Friday, March 16 at 8 p.m. with the Bill Charlap Trio. Charlap, long an admirer of the remarkable and charismatic Bernstein, received a Grammy Award nomination for his album Somewhere: the Songs of Leonard Bernstein (2000), and is well known for his interpretations of Bernstein's popular songs, mostly written for Broadway musicals like West Side Story, On the Town, and Candide.

The 5th Avenue Theatre presents a new production of Mamma Mia!, the hit musical that features the songs of the beloved pop group ABBA. The 5th is the first theater company in the Pacific Northwest to be granted the rights to create a brand new original version of the famed production that has wowed audiences for nearly 20 years. Bourgere (THE CRUCIBLE, A RAISIN IN THE SUN) will be featured in the world premiere of THE BEAST IN THE JUNGLE, an original work fusing dance, drama and music by legendary composer and four-time Tony Award winner John Kander (CABARET, CHICAGO), Tony Award nominee playwright David Thompson (STEEL PIER; FLORA, THE RED MENACE), and five-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Susan Stroman (THE PRODUCERS, CONTACT). Performances will begin May 4, 2018 with opening night set for May 23. Kander, Thompson, and Stroman previously collaborated at The Vineyard on THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS.
