Young Vic Theatre
66 The Cut, South Bank, London SE1 8LZ, United Kingdom London

In their first collaboration since 2014, the Young Vic co-produce with LIFT, as part of Kris Nelson's first festival as Artistic Director, to bring an exciting new production of this internationally-acclaimed 24-hour feat of endurance performance and live cinema to London.

In a brilliant concept inspired the 1977 John Cassavetes film Opening Night, created by an all-female-identifying and non-binary team who capture and mix the action live from multiple cameras, 100 different men are invited to star opposite 'Virginia' who performs the exact same scene again and again, for a full 24 hours. At the conclusion of each scene, the man must make a stark decision. The wait for what comes next becomes a brilliant binge-worthy spectacle.

None of the 100 different Martys have met or rehearsed with Virginia. Many of them are non-actors, and while the presence of each new man shifts the meaning of this intimate exchange, it's the recurring, unnerving yet familiar moments that shock. Whether you choose to stay for an hour or the whole 24 hours, the precarious nature of gender and power relationships will continue to circle in your mind long after you leave your seat.

BWW Review: BLOOD AT THE ROOT at Theater Alliance
by Jack Read - Mar 4, 2019

From the second we step through the doors of Anacostia Playhouse, we're asked to join the world of Dominique Morisseau's Blood at the Root - not just as observers but participants. Every corner of the lobby has been decked out like the hallways of a high school - in this case, Cedar High, located somewhere north of New Orleans. We glance upward and see a banner prominently featuring their mascot, the Pelican. There's a bulletin board littered with flyers and posters - Keep Calm and Wear Your Uniform. And just next to the entrance of the theater is a pair of lockers covered with real-life photographs of the young cast in their natural habitats - school, church, family reunions, summer camp. There's a lot to explore.

20/20 Reports on Woman Who Authorities Maintain Committed Suicide Even Though Her Family Believes She Was Killed by Deputy Sheriff Boyfriend
by Tori Hartshorn - Apr 11, 2018

Suicide or homicide? That question still lingers for Michelle O'Connell's family and friends nearly eight years after she was shot inside her boyfriend's St. Augustine, Florida, home and died. Her family alleges she was killed by her boyfriend, Deputy Sheriff Jeremy Banks, but the sheriff's department maintains that she committed suicide. At the request of Michelle's family, her body was exhumed and an outside forensics expert conducted a second autopsy for them which concluded that Michelle's death was a homicide. However, authorities still maintain she took her own life. ABC News' Ryan Smith investigates the controversy and reports on developments in the case, including Jeremy's civil suit against a state investigator that was dismissed last month. “20/20” airs on Friday, April 13 (10:01–11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC.
