Black Swan State Theatre Company launched its 2014 season in the State Theatre Centre's Heath Ledger Theatre on Monday evening. The mainstage season of six plays contains a mix of classics and new work, and Black Swan will be returning to the Studio Underground with two plays in 2014 as part of the Black Swan Lab program.

As the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's untimely death approaches, The Road Company Theater will stage Assassins, an American musical that lays bare the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate Presidents of the United States. Bold, sometimes disturbing, and alarmingly funny, the Tony-nominated historical musical with haunting songs by Tony-winning composer Stephen Sondheim explores the dark side of the American experience. Assassins will run tonight, September 12 - September 28 .

Everyone's favorite upside-down fairytale comes to Walnut Creek when Diablo Theatre Company presents the Bay Area premiere of Shrek the Musical, a song-and dance-filled stage adaptation of the Oscar-winning DreamWorks animated film. Shrek the Musical opens September 6 and runs through September 28.

On Friday, August 23, at 8:30p.m., the award-winning East Lynne Theater Company will present an American Sign Language Interpretation of the well-reviewed 'Legend of Sleepy Hollow.'

Randy James' all male dance company, 10 Hairy Legs, will perform Just Suits at Crossroads Theatre, 7 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick on August 24 at 5:00 pm as part of Hub City Sound's 2013 month long festival of music and dance. Admission is free.

The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, New York Live Arts' resident dance company, today announced the touring programs and productions for the 2013-2014 season, continuing the Company's 30th anniversary celebrations. The Company will perform in 13 cities in three countries over the next 10 months, making their debut at a number of venues across the U.S. and abroad. The tour kicks off with the Company's debut at the Festival de Marseille, in Marseille, France, on June 19 with a residency and performances of Play and Play: an Evening of Movement and Music. Now in its third year of operation, Ann Arbor's Penny Seats Theatre Company is set to produce its trademark summer show at the West Park Band Shell, 215 Chapin Street in Ann Arbor for three weekends from July 11 through July 27.

Coeurage Theatre Company (Jeremy Lelliott, Artistic Director), LA's 'Pay What You Want' Company, has announced their production of Translations by Brian Friel, directed by Coeurage Associate Artistic Director Ryan Wagner. There will be one preview performance on Friday, May 24 at 8pm, and opening is set for Saturday, May 25 at 8pm. Translations will play through June 23 only at The Lost Studio on S. La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles.

Opera Idaho was founded in 1973 though the existence of opera in Boise dates back much earlier. Since the early 1960's, the Boise Philharmonic has been producing annual operas featuring singers from the surrounding region. When these were discontinued in the late 60's, Mrs. Hazel Weston and a large group of local opera enthusiasts formed the Boise Opera Workshop. The early company provided workshop productions, monthly public lecture programs and group studies of operatic works. In the continued efforts to producing grand opera, the company changed its name in 1973 to Boise Civic Opera and by 1977 they were already importing professional singers to perform the principal roles in its productions. In 1983, the company changed its name again, to Boise Opera, to recognize the increasing professionalism of the company's productions.

Opera Philadelphia's Aurora Series for Chamber Opera has produced five seasons of cutting-edge productions at the Perelman Theater, and this June the Opera continues its bold programming with the company premiere ofPowder Her Face, composer Thomas Ades's provocative debut opera based on a real-life sex scandal that rocked the British aristocracy in the 1960s. The Actors Training Center Repertory Company,1122 Central Ave., will present the riveting 1960s rock musical HAIR in a limited engagement starting on Friday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. with the press performance on Saturday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. and a special benefit performance on Sunday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. The production is directed by Jeff Award winner Janet Louer, Artistic Director of The ATC Repertory Company. The Sunday benefit performance will feature a wine and cheese reception starting at 6:30 p.m. and a post-show talkback moderated by Louer that addresses the significance of HAIR and the impact of the hippie movement on American culture. Photographs on loan from the Chicago-based National Veterans Art Museum will also be on display in the theater's lobby that evening as part of a special Vietnam exhibit.

RADIO GOLF is the final play in his ten-play Pittsburgh cycle. Set in the late 1990's the play is Wilson's closing reflection on a decade-by-decade historic depiction of the African-American experience as an entrepreneur aspires to become the city's first African-American mayor. RADIO GOLF stars Kim E. Brown, Tiffany R. Barrett, Andre N. Jones, Damien J. Wallace and Roderick Slocum.

Dance Academy USA Production Company, the renowned San Jose dance school's premier competition team, has announced that auditions to join the team will be held on Saturday, April 6th and Sunday, April 7th.
