As the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's untimely death approaches, The Road Company Theater will stage Assassins, an American musical that lays bare the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate Presidents of the United States. Bold, sometimes disturbing, and alarmingly funny, the Tony-nominated historical musical with haunting songs by Tony-winning composer Stephen Sondheim explores the dark side of the American experience. Assassins will run tonight, September 12 - September 28 (Thursdays at 7pm; Friday and Saturdays at 8pm; Sundays at 2pm) in the Grand Theatre, located at 405 S. Main Street, Williamstown, NJ. Tickets, ranging from $22 - $25, are available at www.roadcompany.com or 856-728-2120.

Writers Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman bend the rules of time and space, taking audiences on a nightmarish roller coaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact and inspire each other to harrowing acts in the name of the American Dream: John Wilkes Booth (Eric Cecilioi), assassin of President Abraham Lincoln; Charles Guiteau (Richard Butler), assassin of President James Garfield; Leon Czolgosz (Ed Ippolito), assassin of President William McKinley; Giuseppe Zangara (PatRick Kelly), attempted assassin of President-elect Franklin D. Roosevelt; Lee Harvey Oswald (Josh Bessinger), assassin of President John F. Kennedy; Samuel Byck (Phil Imbesi), attempted assassin of President Richard Nixon; John Hinckley (Harrison Webb), attempted assassin of President Ronald Reagan; Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme (Danielle DiPillo), attempted assassin of President Gerald Ford; and Sara Jane Moore (Carolyn Hand), attempted assassin of President Gerald Ford.

Assassins was first produced by Playwrights Horizons, Inc. in New York City and premiered Off-Broadway in 1990, later premiering on Broadway in 2004 in a Roundabout Theater production where it received numerous Tony Award nominations. Suzanne Baldino-Jones will direct The Road Company Theater's production. Ms. Baldino-Jones is no stranger to Road Company audiences. It was her mother, Julie Speeney, who founded the company and she has directed productions since its beginning in 1976. Her impressive list of directing credits includes: 1776, Pippin, Jekyll & Hyde, Sweeney Todd, Miss Saigon, Urinetown, A Few Good Men, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, California Suite, Summer and Smoke, It's All In The Timing, Moon Over Buffalo and Steel Magnolias
