The Shaker Heights High School Theatre Arts Department presents the thirty-fifth festival of new plays, written, directed, performed and co-produced by students, Stages 35: Shaker New Plays Series, March 15, 16, 17 & 18 at 7 PM with a 9:15 PM show on Friday, March 17 in our intimate black box theatre, Stage 3. The most recent revitalization of Sunday in the Park with George, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Annaleigh Ashford, opens this Thursday, February 23, at the Hudson Theatre. The beloved Stephen Sondheim musical made its Broadway debut May 2, 1984 at the Booth Theatre, where it ran for 604 performances. The original production starred Mandy Patinkin as George and Bernadette Peters as Dot/Marie. Although it did not win Best Musical at the Tony's, it did take home the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1985.

Michael Matus & George Rae will play Dionysos and Xanthias in the UK premiere of the latest Broadway version of the rarely performed musical, an hilarious send up of Greek comedy and satire, with a book revised and expanded by Nathan Lane.

Walnut Street Theatre continues its landmark 208th season with Neil Simon's classic comedy, LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR. Directed by Frank Ferrante, the play begins previews on January 17th, opens on January 25th and runs through March 5th on the Walnut's Mainstage. Featuring stunning puppetry, an original score and an utterly charming 'baa-ber sheep' quartet, the tour will launch from West Yorkshire Playhouse on Monday 13 February and run until September 2017. Burning Coal Theatre Company will open its 20th season in Raleigh, North Carolina with David Hare's Skylight, a love story about a brashly swaggering, politically conservative middle-aged businessman in the hotels and restaurants trade who stumbles back into the life of a progressive-minded, younger woman with whom he had a tempestuous affair years  before.  The play will run Thursdays through Saturdays, Oct. 6-9, 13-15 and 20-22, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays, October 9, 16, and 23, 2016 at 2 p.m. Performances will take place at Burning Coal's Murphey School Auditorium, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh, NC 27604.
