Dare Theatre presents a compelling coming-of-age story set during the 2019 Hong Kong protests in Youth in Flames, written and performed by Mimi Martin. The narrative follows Millie, a British-Hong Kong expat teenager, who is drawn into the tumultuous pro-democracy movement through her friendship with Jesse, a local activist. As events spiral out of control, Millie must confront her own privilege and the harsh realities of a city under siege after a devastating night of violence leaves her grappling with guilt and responsibility. Inspired by real experiences, the play highlights themes of identity, resistance, and the complexities of activism in a world where democratic rights are increasingly challenged.
