Do Not Pass Go is a new show from theatre company Jordan & Skinner, created by Melanie Jordan and Caitlin Skinner, about Lizzie Magie, the pioneering feminist and games designer who invented The Landlord's Game — the board game that would become Monopoly. Magie's design was stolen by Charles Darrow, who repurposed it and became the first millionaire games designer in history, while Magie's contribution went largely unrecognized. Using clown, physical theatre, dance, British Sign Language, and spoken English, the show uses Magie's story to examine why women continue to be disadvantaged by economic systems and why alternatives to the status quo remain difficult to imagine. The production is Jordan & Skinner's first to be fully accessible to deaf audiences, with integrated BSL performed by a member of the cast.
