Do Not Pass Go, created and performed by Melanie Jordan and directed by Caitlin Skinner, tells the story of Lizzie Magie, the pioneering feminist and games designer who invented "The Landlord's Game" — the board game that would become Monopoly. Magie's design was intended to challenge land monopoly and demonstrate the possibilities of wealth redistribution, but her game was taken by Charles Darrow, who repurposed it and became the first millionaire games designer in history. Through clown, physical theatre, dance, British Sign Language, and spoken English, the show uses Magie's story to explore why women continue to be disadvantaged by economic systems and why alternatives to the status quo remain difficult to imagine. The production is fully accessible to deaf audiences, featuring integrated BSL performed by a cast member, with movement direction by Emma Jayne Park and BSL consultation by Duffy.
