EDINBURGH 2026: Review: SID SINGH: LOVE BOMBING, The Lounge At Laughing Horse @ The Counting House

Comedian's Choice Award winner Sid Singh returns to the Edinburgh Fringe with activism, political intention and a good dose of love-based reckless abandon.

Sid Singh opens Love Bombing with the claim that he has given up. Thankfully, nothing could be further from the truth. Whilst the political landscape may have left him feeling defeated, his comedy remains sharp, engaging and filled with purpose.

Singh claims he does comedy in much the same way as politicians do. He confidently assures the audience that we are in safe comedic hands, whilst reminding us we would be in terrible financial hands. It is an opening which immediately establishes his dry wit, charisma and limitations.

The heart of the show centres on the true story of Singh agreeing to go on a date with his alleged stalker. Preparing to bore them with tales of male privilege, deep insecurities and a brooding Robert Pattinson style approach of deep insecurities, he instead discovers someone far less unhinged than expected. The story unfolds with warmth, intelligence and plenty of unexpected twists, delivering laughs whilst quietly challenging assumptions.

Alongside the personal anecdotes sits Singh’s enduring commitment to human rights law. His work with the Centre for Gender and Refugee Studies, which recently marked its twenty fifth anniversary, provides the emotional backbone of the show. Having delivered a keynote address during the anniversary celebrations, alongside a respected victim survivor in the field, Singh reflects with genuine pride on the organisation’s impact. His admiration for his former professor and the development of case law by the teams dedicated lawyers demonstrates that, despite his opening declaration, he remains firmly committed to fighting the good fight. His committment to perform comedy in order to support people in need of legal help via donations is admirable and heartfelt.

Singh also mines plenty of humour from his move to Barcelona, his romantic disappointments and the increasingly unsettling state of international politics, particularly the worrying rise of nationalism across the world.

In Love Bombing Singh never loses sight of the humanity behind the headlines. He skilfully balances legal insight with personal storytelling, producing an hour which is both thoughtful and amusing. Sid Singh delivers comedy with a conscience, by a performer whose greatest strength lies in making legal issues feel accessible without losing sight of the laughs.

Sid Singh Love Bombing runs at 16:15-17:15 at The Lounge at Laughing Horse @ The Counting House until 30 August
