A recent study found that 85.4% of works across 18 museums in the US were created by white artists, with only 1.2% coming from Black artists and just 2.8% from Hispanic/Latino artists. In order to broaden the perspectives reflected in art, it’s critical to uplift artistic BIPOC students. This scholarship seeks to support first-generation BIPOC high school students who are passionate about pursuing careers in the arts. Any first-generation, BIPOC high school senior who is a US citizen, has non-profit or community service experience, has at least a 2.4 GPA, and is pursuing visual, studio, or performing arts disciplines may apply for this scholarship. To apply, tell us why you’re passionate about the arts. Give us a creative example (short film, original song, etc) of why you’re interested in the arts and how you hope to improve the world through your artistic career. | |

Musical theatre has the power to change hearts and minds; it would be incredible for all movie musicals to make use of this power to the best of their ability and change the world for the best.
Writing about different experiences or even just about my everyday life allows me to slow down and think more deeply about why certain moments resonate with me.
Only months prior, we were all high schoolers who dared to dream on a national level.
I would like to thank everyone who has chosen to read my articles and I hope that you were able to resonate with them and they allowed you to feel understood.
This summer, I'm trying to worry way less about what I’m not doing and more about what makes me feel fulfilled right now.
