Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans

Immigrants or children of immigrants (naturalized citizens, green card holders, asylees/refugees, or those who graduated high school and college in the U.S.) who are 30 or younger as of the deadline. Must plan to enroll full-time in a U.S. accredited graduate/professional degree program in 2027–28, or be in the first two years of such a program. Merit-based; all fields. 30 Fellows selected annually.

1. Confirm New American and age eligibility at pdsoros.org.
2. Complete the free online application (essays, recommendations, transcripts).
3. Submit by Oct 29, 2026, 2 PM ET (no exceptions).
4. Finalists (~77) interview virtually Jan–Feb; 30 Fellows notified March and announced April.

Paul and Daisy Soros, Hungarian immigrants and American philanthropists, established their Fellowship program for New Americans—immigrants and children of immigrants—in December of 1997 with a charitable trust of fifty million dollars. They created the program as a way to give back to the country that had afforded their family such great opportunities. Mr. and Mrs. Soros decided on a fellowship program because it allowed them to assist young New Americans at critical points in their educations, which they felt was an unmet need. They also wished to call attention to the extensive and diverse contributions of New Americans to the quality of life in the United States. The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans program is intended for immigrants and children of immigrants in the United States.
