The Ojai Playwrights Conference has announced the complete schedule for this year's Summer New Works Festival. The Festival, which will run from August 10 to August 15 in Ojai, California, will feature six New Play Workshops, as well as a reading of OTHER DESERT CITIES, a new play by Jon Robin Baitz.
The plays featured in the New Play Workshops will include Len Jenkin's PSALM 151: HEAVEN HAVE MERCY, Trieu Tran's UNCLE HO TO Uncle Sam, Bess Wohl's BARCELONA, Mona Mansour's URGE FOR GOING, Kate Fodor's RX, and Thomas Higgins's WILD ANIMALS YOU SHOULD KNOW. The Festival will also include an evening of solo performances, a youth workshop performance (directed by Kim Maxwell), and Leslie Carrara-Rudolph's WAKE UP YOUR WEIRD, a family theater event.
The Ojai Playwrights Conference is a developmental program that values the reading and workshop process as an important avenue through which playwrights can more fully realize their intentions with a play. A conference centered around playwrights and their new plays, The Ojai Playwrights Conference believes the theatre can be a vital and essential forum for the exchange of new and challenging ideas about the world in which we live. They seek out plays and playwrights who share this vision.
Tickets for the performances range from $20 to $25, with $10 youth tickets for some events. For more information, including a full schedule of performances, and to purchase tickets, visit www.ojaiplays.org.
