Reimagined PETER PAN Hits Ferry Park in San Fransisco, Through August

By:

A reimagined production of PETER PAN is currently playing the Embarcadero in San Francisco. This novel, new production is played inside a white tent and uses 360 degree projectors to immerse both the actors and the audience in the magic of Neverland. The production played the U.K.'s O2 center last year and is hoping for a move to L.A. following their San Francisco run.

Designer William Dudley recalled the conversations about setting the stage for a new look at Neverland: "The 360-degree lens system had only just become available, which was very fortuitous and enabled us to do [the show] in the round."

The production allows the actors to fly over the buildings of London, swim underwater, and walk beneath the Neverland tree tops. In addition, the production has placed the tent's structuring outside, allowing the actors to achieve unencumbered flight paths throughout the performance.

Following sell-outs, in both Kensington Gardens and The O2 in London last year, Three Sixty Entertainment's production of "PETER PAN" has moved lock, stock and barrel to San Francisco, where it is performed in Ferry Park, following its opening on May 9. San Francisco has already sold more than 50,000 tickets and had a multi-million dollar advance for the run prior to its 9 May opening. This production of "PETER PAN" has broken box office records wherever it has played and, at its first outing in Kensington Gardens, the production took in excess of £5 million at the box office, selling over 150,000 tickets. The producers are now planning to extend the initial 18 week run in San Francisco's Ferry Park.

The combination of a major West End production and the unique Kensington Gardens style outdoor environment that is set up at each location has led to international cities vying to host future visits of the production. In the US this inaugural production of "PETER PAN" will visit Los Angeles, Chicago and New York amongst a host of other interested cities.

A second production of Peter Pan will open an Australasian tour in March 2011. True to George Bernard Shaw's description of "Peter Pan": "Ostensibly a holiday entertainment for children but really a play for grown-up people," this play for families has proved to be an enormous success with adults in their own right.

With its breathtaking and specially-commissioned 360-degree projected scenic design, this production of "PETER PAN" wowed London critics and dazzled the capital's audiences. Celebrities, ranging from Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall through The Beckhams and Russell Crowe to Helena Bonham Carter and her family, flocked to the production and became a must-see event. This "PETER PAN" has sold in excess of 250,000 tickets since first opening in London last summer.

This new production of "PETER PAN", written by Tanya Ronder from JM Barrie, is directed by Ben Harrison and designed by William Dudley. By arrangement with the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity and Samuel French Limited, this production of "PETER PAN" is produced by Charlie Burnell and Mat Churchill for ThreeSixty Entertainment Ltd.
