TheatreWorks welcomes the New Year with the California Premiere of Ambition Facing West, critically acclaimed Bay Area-born playwright Anthony Clarvoe's moving adaptation of his own family history, playing now (opening: January 20) with performances through February 11.

"Winner of the Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding New Play, Ambition Facing West spans the globe and the better part of the 20th Century chronicling one family's migration from Eastern Europe to the United States and beyond," describes press notes, "Full of humor and wisdom, Ambition Facing West examines the eternal bond between parents and children, what we choose to hold close, and choose to let go. TheatreWorks' Director of New Works Kent Nicholson helms this evocative exploration of the immigrant experience."
