But how long can the music drown out what’s happening beyond the doors?
3Peace Studios & Point Loma Playhouse transform the theatre into the Kit Kat Club for an immersive, exhilarating production of Kander and Ebb’s Cabaret. The audience doesn’t simply watch the club come alive - they enter it.
A live band fills the room. Performers move through the space. Seductive, precision-driven choreography erupts around you. Tables become part of the world of the club, and the boundary between audience and performance begins to disappear.
At first, it is intoxicating: funny, sexy, irreverent and wildly alive. But beneath the champagne, music and spectacle, something is changing.
Set against the gathering darkness of 1930s Berlin, Cabaret follows American writer Cliff Bradshaw into the orbit of the unforgettable Sally Bowles and the decadent Kit Kat Club, while the tender romance between Fräulein Schneider and Herr Schultz reveals the increasingly dangerous reality waiting just outside its doors.
This production uses live music, immersive staging, bold costume design and stylized, precision-driven choreography to take audiences on a wild ride from exhilaration to intimacy to an ending designed to leave the room changed.
