A group of MBA types gather in a conference room to blue-sky a really big project, one that seems to demand all kinds of scalable, data-driven thinking, an assignment requiring one win-win paradigm shift after another. They wonder if they have the bandwidth. They circle back. They synergize, strategize and incentivize. They are concerned about optics and the number of boots on the ground. They regard the summer intern with all the suspicion he deserves. And, of course, what they most want is to please their boss, the one who wants a plan generated in a matter of minutes and who can hire and fire at will. The question of the night is, what's the project?Right from the get-go, we sense that it involves the disposal of bodies and the prevention of panic. Is this group of consultants dealing with a forthcoming natural disaster which someone has anticipated? Or are they in service of a totalitarian client with an interest in some kind of ethnic cleansing? It's not as if that would be the first time in history. Or is this some kind of test?
