By: Charlie Piane
Bingo, the Off-Broadway hit, will be making its Utah musical debut this May at The Grand Theatre. Written by Grammy-nominated songwriters Michael Heitzman and Ilene Reid, Bingo, the Winning Musical, is a splashy, zippy outrageously funny new musical.
The story focuses on the friendships forged through regular Bingo playing. Come meet Vern, Honey and Patsy; three pals that have driven through a terrible storm in the name of their weekly obsession. In between the number calling, strange rituals and fierce competitions, love blossoms and long lost friends reunite! Audience members become part of the fun by participating in the Bingo games. Some audience members may even walk away with a prize or two.Jim Christian, Professor & Director of Theatre at Weber State University, directs and choreographs this production. Bingo features a variety of witty, lively, and poignant songs including "I Still Believe in You" and "Gentleman Caller."Cast includes notable Utah favorites: Breezy Bassett, Loria Badali Call, Wanda Copier, Erica Hansen, Jeff Parry, Camille Van Wagoner, and Jayceen Craven Walker“Bingo turns Grandma's favorite form of gambling into fun-loving musical theatre!" - NY TimesTimes: Evening performances 7:30pm (no Sundays), Saturday matinees 2:00pm
