Capital Stage shakes up the holiday scene in midtown Sacramento by bringing the enormously popular, hilarious and irreverent Every Christmas Story Ever Told (and then some!) by Michael Carleton, James FitzGerald and John K. Alvarez to its new home at 2215 J Street. Additionally, for a limited run, Capital Stage will present the family friendly classic It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play adapted by Joe Landry.

Fed up with performing Charles Dickens' beloved holiday classic for the umpteenth time, three actors decide to perform every Christmas story ever told -- plus Christmas traditions from around the world, seasonal icons from ancient times to topical pop-culture, and every carol ever sung. Cap Stage has established a new holiday tradition with this irreverent madcap romp through the holiday season.This year's production will be given a make-over with its move to Capital Stage's new, larger stage on J Street. Changes include a new set and modern updates to the script from the original playwrights. Returning from last year's cast is Gary S. Martinez, Peter Mohrmann and Eric Wheeler. Performances for Every Christmas Story Ever Told (and then some!) will begin with previews on Wednesday, November 30 at 7pm, Thursday, December 1 and Friday December 2 at 8pm and will open on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 8pm with performances continuing through January 1, 2012. Showtimes will be Wednesdays - Sundays as follows: Wednesdays at 7pm; Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm; and Sundays at 2pm; with additional performances on Saturday, December 17 at 2pm; Sunday, December 18 at 8pm; Tuesday, December 20 at 7pm; and Saturday, December 24 at 2pm. It will close on New Year's Day, January 1 at 5pm. Regular tickets: $22-$40; Preview tickets: $20; student & senior tickets: $20-28. Group rates are available for groups of 12 or more. It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play Dec. 17-24Inspired by the classic American film of the same title, It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play is performed as a 1940s live radio broadcast in front of a studio audience. Five actors perform the dozens of characters as well as produce the radio play's sound effects. Imagine it is Christmas Eve 1946 in Studio A at WBFR in Manhattan, New York. The actors arrive for a special live radio performance of It's a Wonderful Life. You'll hear all your favorites including George Bailey, Mary, Clarence Oddbody, Mr Potter, Uncle Billy, even Zuzu and all the other wonderful characters that make up Bedford Falls. Capital Stage Artistic Associate Janis Stevens directs in this holiday treat for the entire family.There are only six performances for It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play beginning on Saturday, December 17 at 5pm and continuing as follows: Sunday, December 18 at 5pm; Monday, December 19 at 7pm; Thursday, December 22 at 3pm; Friday, December 23 at 3pm and a special Christmas Eve performance on Saturday, December 24 at 11am.
