Theatre Revolution announces the FIRST Women’s Short Film Festival in the Hudson Valley!

Glass Ceiling Breakers Best of the Fest 2023 at the Bedford Playhouse September 14th at 7pm features 12 films created by women artists.

Bedford, NY - Theatre Revolution (TR) announces Glass Ceiling Breakers Best of the Fest 2023. The very first women’s film festival in the Hudson Valley! 12 short films have been selected and will screen for one night only at the Bedford Playhouse in Bedford, New York on Thursday September 14th at 7pm.

TR Founder and Artistic Director Gabrielle Fox says “When I ask men friends in the film industry how many women are on set (excluding actors) there is a long pause while they realize the answer is typically 0-3. They are surprised by their answers and even more surprised that they never noticed. IF there is a woman on set, they are rarely in a leadership role and they are far outnumbered by their male colleagues. Indie artists should be bucking trends not following them.  When [co-producer] Nora Matz and I started speaking about bringing GCB back to audiences, we decided to go bigger and bolder by adding films! When Bedford Playhouse’s Artistic Director Dan Friedman jumped at the chance to screen the Best of the Fest, we knew we were on to something.”

About the Films:

The festival’s inaugural year will include filmmakers from the New York area including Fox from Mount Kisco, Lucia Bellini from NYC, Penny Jackson from NYC, Susan O’Brien from NYC (who’s 2 films tied for Best Short!), Sharon Cooper from NYC, Lina Sarrello from NYC, Zoë Kim from NYC, Jennifer Rau from NYC, then we have Maria Diez from LA, Sarah Carlot Jaber of Belgium and Marwah Ghazi from Iraq to round out the roster. There is something for everyone in this lineup, drama, comedy, experimental and everything in between!

The festival screens one night only at the Bedford Playhouse September 14th. Red Carpet 6:30pm, screening at 7pm followed by a Q&A with filmmakers
