Adirondack Theatre Festival's 22nd Summer Season to Continue with THE UNCIVIL WAR

By:

Adirondack Theatre Festival's (ATF) 22nd summer season continues with its CABARET SERIES featuring the return of THE UNCIVIL WAR in a special concert performance. This special event will feature an updated script and score, with changes made based on reactions of ATF audiences from last summer's performance, complete with multiple new songs and scenes. Performances will be held at the Charles R. Wood Theater (207 Glen Street in downtown Glens Falls) on the mainstage at 7:30pm. Tickets are $26-$32 and are available at the Wood Theater Box Office, online at ATFestival.org, or by calling (518) 480-4878. Discount season flex passes are available for the full seven show line-up.

150 years after the final gunshot, The Civil War's six lone survivors grab their banjos, washboards, and what's left of their sanity to retell the story of the infamous conflict...as it really happened. Complete with singing, dancing, outrageous humor and biting historical satire, The unCivil War is a wild, bluegrass-fueled ride that re-examines one of the country's darkest moments, and sheds a hilarious new light on the leaders we've long considered heroes.

THE UNCIVIL WAR was originally developed at NYMF (NY Music Theatre Festival) where it won four NYMF Awards for Best Book, Best Ensemble, and Outstanding Individual Performance (J. Robert Spencer & Brian Charles Rooney). It was further developed at ATF in 2015, playing to sold-out crowds and breaking box-office records.

Many of the original cast members from the ATF production are returning for this concert performance, including Tony-nominee, J. Robert Spencer (Next to Normal, Jersey Boys) as Abraham Lincoln. The show also features the return of Brian Charles Rooney (Broadway's The Threepenny Opera & Camelot in Concert) as Mary Todd Lincoln, Mitchell Jarvis (Broadway's Rock of Ages) as Grant, and Michael Abbott, Jr. (Mud, Shotgun Stories) as Sherman.

Newcomers include Tony award winner Chuck Cooper (The Life, Amazing Grace), Wayne Duvall (Prisoners, O Brother Where Art Thou?, Apollo 13), Pearl Sun (If/Then, Merrily We Roll Along), Josh Breckenridge (The Book of Mormon, Scottsboro Boys), and Lauren Chapman (Kinky Boots).

THE UNCIVIL WAR is directed by Steve Bebout, associate director of THE BOOK OF MORMON (Broadway, tour), SISTER ACT (Broadway, Tour), & SOMETHING ROTTEN (Broadway), and choreographed by Chris Bailey, associate choreographer of Broadway's EVITA and HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING. The show's music director is Ryan Touhey, who served as the music director on Broadway's KINKY BOOTS and associate music supervisor for Broadway's THE BOOK OF MORMON.
