Photo Flash: First Look at Theatre by the Sea's NUNSENSE, Directed by Dan Goggin

By: May. 31, 2013

Theatre By the Sea's production of NUNSENSE runs now thru June 16, 2013. NUNSENSE is directed at Theatre by the Sea by the original writer, Dan Goggin. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the sisters in action below!

NUNSENSE is a hilarious musical spoof about the misadventures of five nuns trying to manage a talent show. Sadly, the rest of the sisterhood died from botulism after eating the vichyssoise prepared by Sister Julia. Thus, the remaining nuns - ballet-loving Sister Leo, street-wise Sister Robert Anne, befuddled Sister Mary Amnesia, the Mother Superior Sister Regina, and mistress of the novices Sister Mary Hubert - stage a show in order to raise the money to bury their dearly departed Sisters.

Theatre By The Sea has had many incarnations since opening in 1933. Tommy Brent saved the theater from demolition in 1967 and ran it successfully until FourQuest Entertainment took over the lease in 1988. Following extensive renovations that fall and winter, FourQuest reopened the theater in the spring of 1989 and continued producing Summer Theater at the seaside playhouse until the fall of 2003. Bill Hanney purchased the property in 2007and, with producing partners, successfully mounted a production of 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,' just six weeks later, reopening the historic theatre on August 8, 2007. Theatre By The Sea continues to annually produce an successful four-musical subscription season annually.

Tickets are on sale now by calling (401) 782-8587, online at theatrebythesea.com, or in person at 364 Cards Pond Road, Matunuck, RI.
