Ronin Theatre Collaborative is hard at work bringing the latest masterpiece of the Zoni-winning playwright in residence, John Perovich, "GLEN OAKS". Under the leadership of Ronin's Artistic Director, Cody Goulder, this lush and gorgeous play will first run at the Arizona Irish Cultural Center from May 21st to the 24th before transferring to the Main Street Creative Arts Center May 29th to June 7th.

GLEN OAKS is a poetic, meditative exploration of love, life, and the complexities of relationships. The play follows a married couple as they face the bittersweet reality of growing apart while deciding if they should stay together. Their daughter, meanwhile, navigates her own journey of love as she falls for Charli, the granddaughter of the town historian, whose connections to the town’s past intertwines with the present. As each character grapples with letting go of old ties and embracing new ones, Glen Oaks itself -- rich with history, secrets, and beauty -- becomes a silent witness to their emotional transformations. Through expressionistic and dreamlike moments, the play delves into themes of memory, belonging, brutality, and the ever-shifting nature of love.

The cast is chock full of valley favorites. The family of this drama are a core of Ronin veterans. Amy Searcy & Ben Donnel as Clara & Jim respectively, joined by Antoinette Martin-Hanson plays their frustrated teenage daughter, Dakota. Rounding out the cast are Ronin newcomers, Siohban Henry & Marcel Williams. Siohban plays Connie, the local historian and heart of the town. Marcel plays Charli, Dakota's burgeoning love interest and Connie's grand child. We're sure to see them in future Ronin productions to come!

Fight choreography for this production will be spearheaded by Ronin's 2026 Artists in Residence; Pantheon Movement Arts, Courtney Kenyon & Marshall Vosler. We can't wait to highlight their great work with this show and the rest of our 2026 season.

Tickets will soon be made available through the ICC & Ronin's brand new website!

Stay tuned, true believers!

The Irish Cultural Center is located at 1106 N Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85004.

Ben Donnel
Jim
Benjamin “Bendi” Donnel is grateful to be back working with Ronin on another production, especially acting in his first play by John Perovich! Bendi loves to help develop new works, and since he never got around to learning to sing or dance, appreciates companies and playwrights who produce plays regularly (rather than musicals). He is very grateful to his fiancé Melissa, who for the second year in a row has signed off on Bendi opening a show on her birthday. Returning Ronin audience members may recognize Bendi from previous productions as a creepy crawly demon, a guy who fought a ghost, or a Klingon smoking a vape. Thanks for being here!

Since graduating from Arizona State University with a BFA in Performance and Movement, she has been working on various film sets as a set dresser, has voice acted in a few podcasts including RPN and My Father’s Files. Founded in 2020, Ronin Theatre Collaborative focuses on storytelling and adding a unique voice to the valley through rarely-done or premier plays. Ronin Theatre Collaborative is a traveling theatre company who uses site specific and guerilla style theatre tactics to share stories both timeless and of the moment. With an emphasis on the development of new works while also leaning on the foundations established by classic theatre, Ronin looks to push the envelope on the how, what, and immediacy of what a theatrical experience can be. Whether it is cultivating the voice of an unproduced playwright finding their foothold in the world or breaking apart the foundations of a classical work to uncover a timeless resonance, Ronin does not settle for works that are mere entertainment. Our plays are character driven, emotional, and engaged in styles not commonly demonstrated in the Greater Phoenix area. Each production for Ronin is a chance to sharpen our skills and make the greatest cultural experience possible for our artists and our audiences.
