Little Lives – Rhett DeVelay 2011
About the album
This humorously satirical and sometimes dark musical begins and ends in a cemetery in late 19th Century Ft. Edward NY. Adapted from the 1977 novel by Richard Elman, this Gothic tale is narrated by John Howland Spyker the gay town-gadfly who opens and closes each of the fifteen vignettes and introduces us to some of the very odd folk that are buried in this cemetery. In flashback these characters come alive one at a time to recount a bit of their lives and sing a revealing song. You will meet Fidelity Hasbroek the town drunk, Boiley Yam the cross-dressing highwayman, Lorelei Dembitz who has a split personality, Ole Mole the scary butcher, Ardis Elihu with her talented bosom, and nine other characters that you will not soon forget.
