About the album
The classic Herman Melville novel comes to roaring life in an intense, lyrical, and rousing musical that makes the characters live and breathe. A routine whaling expedition, in 1845, becomes something sinister and obsessive as Captain Ahab vows vengeance on the Great White Whale that maimed him by taking off his leg. As the crew begins to realize their dilemma it is too late for them all, except one. This recording employed the voices of some of the best singers from the Los Angeles Opera and Broadway.
