The Last Laugh is a German silent film directed by F.W. Murnau, featuring Emil Jannings as an aging hotel doorman whose life takes a dramatic turn when he is demoted to a washroom attendant due to his age. Struggling to maintain his dignity, he attempts to hide his new position from friends and family, leading to ridicule when the truth is discovered. The film is noted for its innovative use of the moving camera and delivers a poignant exploration of human dignity, despair, and an unexpected twist that restores his social standing. This screening will feature music by Donna Parker on the Mighty Wurlitzer organ.
