Local and renowned playwright and Resident Artist, E.M. Lewis has been awarded another three years of the Mellon Foundation Playwright Residency at Artists Repertory Theatre. The grant recognizes Lewis' outstanding contribution to the theatrical arts and provides a platform for continued development and production of The Great Divide – a co-commission by Artists Rep and Oregon Shakespeare Festival's American Revolutions program.
The Portland Civic Theatre Guild Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the Portland Civic Theatre Guild New Play Award with Dorothy's Dictionary by E.M. Lewis.
Artists Rep's Board of Directors, along with Executive Director J.S. May and Managing Director Kisha Jarrett, have begun succession planning and are collaborating to ensure a smooth artistic leadership transition. The Oregon Shakespeare Festival today announced six new commissions as part of American Revolutions: the United States History Cycle, OSF's multi-decade program of commissioning and developing 37 new plays about moments of change in United States history. The commissioned artists are Zakiyyah Alexander, Jaclyn Backhaus, E. M. Lewis, Mary Katheryn Nagle, Sara Nović, and Sanaz Toossi.
