Miracle Theatre Group Presents AMERICAN SUEÑO, 1/15-23, 2010
American Sueño is a Teatro Milagro original bilingual production. Written by Dañel Malán and Rebecca Martínez, and directed by Rebecca Martínez, American Sueño will run January 15-23, 2010.
American Sueño shares the stories of four marginalized individuals in search of their version of the American Dream: Augustín Obrero, a musician, and his sister Monica, struggle between living with their family traditions and searching for new lives of their own; Mimi, a drag performer, yearns to find true love, regardless of her gender identity; and the homeless Cruz, a mere shadow of a woman she once was, searches for a way off the streets. To realize their dreams, they each must decide, "What am I willing to sacrifice in order to make my American Dream a reality?"
The Cast features Joaquín López, Sylvia Malán-González, Daniel Moreno, and Dañel Malán.
Tickets range in price from $18-$20 for general admission, and $14 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased from www.milagro.org, 503-236-7253 or the PDX Ticket Network box office at the Hollywood Theatre daily 1-9 p.m.
