Miracle Theatre Group, the Northwest's premier Latino arts and culture organization, is pleased to announce its expanded "Summer at Milagro" programming - a set of three arts and culture experiences in Spanish for children and adults at El Centro Milagro in Southeast Portland.

¡Cuentos y Teatro! - Summer Theatre Camp in Spanish for Children 9 to 12 years old
July 27-August 7, 2009, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 noon

El Centro Milagro (525 SE Stark St., Portland)

Cost: $125 per student ($50 deposit due with registration; balance due by June 15, 2009)

Native Ecuadorian theatre artist and educator Omar Vargas leads a unique and exciting theatre program for kids incorporating mask-making and theatrical movement for a fun Latin American folktale adventure, culminating in a final performance on the Milagro Theatre stage.

¡Danza tropical! -Cuban Folkloric Dance Class in Spanish for Students 13 years and older

July 6-17, 2009, Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 12 noon

El Centro Milagro (525 SE Stark St., Portland)

Cost: $125 per student ($50 deposit due with registration; balance due by June 15, 2009)

Dancer and choreographer Freila Merencio Blanco leads a physically active folkloric dance class that explores Cuban heritage and tradition, including campesino dances such as el papalote (the kite) and el gavilán (the hawk).

¡Actuación en vivo! - Fundamentals of Acting Workshop in Spanish for Adults

July 18-August 8, 2009, Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 12 noon

El Centro Milagro (525 SE Stark St., Portland)

Cost: $100 per student ($50 deposit due with registration; balance due by June 15, 2009)

Actress and educator Nelda Reyes leads an interactive workshop that ranges from audition preparation to character development and scene work.
