Gallery Theater to Stage DRIVING MISS DAISY This Winter
DRIVING MISS DAISY by Alfred Uhry will be directed by Ted Desel at Gallery Theater's Arena Theater, January 15-February 6, 2016.
Set against a backdrop of changing world events between 1948 and 1973, join a fiesty southern widow and her proud but soft-spoken Black chauffeur as they journey from mutual suspicion and mistrust to respect and a friendship based on deep-rooted affection. After Daisy Werthan (Sharon Morgan), a 72-year-old, Jewish widow, has just crashed her new car, her son Boolie (David Dates) hires Hoke Coleburn (Randall J. Phillips), an uneducated African-American, as her driver. Although DRIVING MISS DAISY has a cast of only three, Pulitzer prize-winning playwright Alfred Uhry creates a rich world of characters living in mid-century Atlanta.
