The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh closes its season with Eric Whitacre's The Sacred Veil, a 12-movement work written with poet Charles Anthony Silvestri exploring love and loss through the true story of Silvestri's wife Julie, who passed away from ovarian cancer at 36. The program is presented alongside works by Renaissance master Tomás Luis de Victoria and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw. The concert invites reflection on grief, loss, and the search for catharsis and closure.
