Conservatory Theatre Company closes season with DARK OF THE MOON, 4/13-22
Point Park University's Conservatory Theatre Company will close its season with Dark of the Moon, by HoWard Richardson and William Berney, April 13 – 22, 2012 at the Pittsburgh Playhouse. A preview performance is open to the public on April 12. Jack Allison directs; original music is by Michael McKelvey.
In the mysticAl Hills and hollow of the backwoods, a witch boy, John, falls in love with the beautiful mortal, Barbara. He longs to be human and spend his life with her, so he makes a pact that will threaten their love and their very lives. Their extremely different worlds - the supernatural existence known by Jack and the god-fearing mountain folk who surround Barbara - clash in a dramatic, powerful way, making Dark of the Moon one of the most haunting, tragic tales ever to grace The Playhouse stage, press notes state.
Scenic design is by Rich Preffer; costume design is by Michael Montgomery; lighting design is by Scott Nelson; and sound design is by StEve Shapiro.
Dark of the Moon runs from April 13 – 22, Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.; a preview performance is open to the public on Thursday, April 12. Tickets range in price from $18 to $20 and can be purchased by calling the Pittsburgh Playhouse box office at 412-392-8000 or online at www.pittsburghplayhouse.com Student tickets are available for $7 - $8; group and senior discounts are also available.
The 'pay what you will performance' will be on Saturday, April 14 at 2 p.m.
