Whether on long, perilous journeys or wherever one calls home, music has
communicated joy and provided a means for survival. Folk music ties to one's past and
the dream of a future; Spirituals inspired hope for freedom and were integral to the
community.
True Concord's two-time GRAMMY-nominated choir and chamber players welcome
guest soloist Will Liverman, baritone, in an inspiring program featuring Copland's Old
American Songs, music of the Sacred Harp tradition, Stephen Foster songs, classic
hymns and African American spirituals arranged by William Grant Still, Moses Hogan
and Undine Smith Moore, and much more. Additional performance on January 18th at Catalina Foothills High School.
Presented in partnership with Tucson Desert Song Festival.
Time: 16:00-18:00
