Theater Works at Peoria Center for the Performing Arts announces the second production of its 27th season. Ragtime opens October 25, 2013 and runs through November 17, 2013.

The winner of multiple of Tony Awards, Time Magazine hailed Ragtime "A triumph for the stage," and the International Herald Tribune declared it "the best musical in twenty years."

Based on E.L. Doctorow's distinguished novel, this beautiful musical intertwines the stories of three extraordinary families, as they confront wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair. Ragtime is a powerful portrait of life in America at the dawn of the 20th Century.

With an award-winning score that is just as diverse as the American melting pot, it draws upon a variety of musical styles from the ragtime rhythms of Harlem and Tin Pan Alley to the klezmer of the Lower East Side, from bold brass band marches to delicate waltzes and much more.

Phillip Fazio, an Arizona Native, returns from New York City, to direct and choreograph Ragtime. In the Valley, Mr. Fazio is also known for his direction of critically acclaimed productions of Rent, Cabaret, and The Last Five Years.
