Harry Watters & Salt River Brass to Perform Songs from the Great American Songbook at Ikeda Theater, Today
In-demand Jazz trombone soloist Harry Watters and the 28-piece Salt River Brass will be joined on stage by Pat Sheridan and Sam Pilafian on tuba, Mike Kocour on piano, Dan Bukvich on percussion, when they perform songs from the Great American Songbook in Mesa Arts Center's Ikeda Theater on Saturday, June 14, at 7:30 p.m. June 9 through 13, Mesa Arts Center's Ikeda Theater will become a recording and video studio, as Arizona-based multimedia recording company Tresóna films practice sessions and the resulting concert for theatrical release. Watters travels nationally and internationally as a Jupiter Artist and clinician. His numerous Summit Records releases include the popular Love Songs and the three critically acclaimed Brothers discs with trumpeter Ken Watters. Watters has performed with Doc Serverinsen, Al Hirt, Pete Fountain, Erich Kunzel, Kevin Mahogany, Wycliffe Gordon, Lou Rawls, Maureen McGovern, Bill Watrous, Carl Fontana, Jiggs Whiggam, James Moody, Peter Erskine, Conrad Herwig, John Fedchock and the Boston Brass.
Salt River Brass adds their versatility to the program, playing everything from light classics and marches to show tunes, folk melodies, and jazz standards. Founded by its musicians in January 1988, the Salt River Brass has performed for audiences in Valley concert venues and has received honors in three North American Brass Band Association competitions.
