Manila, Philippines--Repertory Philippines (Rep) stages Michael Valenti and Elsa Rael's musical theater version of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" from August 15 to December 10 at Greenbelt 1 Onstage Theatre in Makati City.

During its opening day, Christine Flores played the fairy tale princess Snow White opposite Hans Eckstein's Prince. Theater stalwart Bituin Escalante played the Queen.

Directed by Joy Virata, the show promises an enthralling fusion of live music and mesmerizing choreography. Rael's book and Valenti's score are to watch for in this production.

Though the story is the same as the fairy tale that kids and kids-at-heart have loved about "Snow White," the dialogues as well as the way it's staged are quite different. In fact, the New York Times once described this version as "the best children's show in town." In contrast with Disney's take on the fairy tale, the dwarfs here are more like the Lost Boys in "Peter Pan" than little old men.

Alternating with Flores as Snow White are Alana Vicente and Becca Coates; sharing the role of the Prince with Eckstein are Jos Jalbuena and Jeff Flores. Ring Antonio plays the Queen at certain performances.
